Dr. Horst Ruppach has over 25 years of experience in the field of virology. He studied chemistry at the University of Cologne and the University of Marburg, Germany, and earned his PhD in virology (HIV) at the Georg Speyer House, Frankfurt. His scientific, technical, and regulatory expertise is in virus safety testing and virus/prion clearances studies for biopharmaceuticals including medical devices with animal- or human-derived components. In 2019 Dr. Ruppach adopted a scientific leadership role with Charles River’s Biologics Testing Services, expanding his expertise to all analytical characterization and testing of biologics. His focus is now on coordinating global development through a newly instituted Global Scientific Governance Group and actively managing Charles River’s Biologics portfolio.
