Olivier R. Berteau is the Global Pharmaceutical Industry Manager at Mettler-Toledo Ingold. With a chemical engineering background, he started his career working for the defense industry. From 1992, with the guidance of Professor Henri Blachere, he has worked with different bioreactor and fermenter manufacturers. Since that period, he has been involved in the development and strategic new product information (NPI) initiatives for several technologies applied to bioprocessing. It was in 2003 while continuing to apply the concept of production on demand (POD) that he began to take an interest in the concepts of continuous manufacturing, drawing inspiration from a 1971 patent demonstrating the performance of continuous cultures of yeast for more than 9 months. More recently before joining METTLER TOLEDO, he has patented a method in cell culture using scale-out concepts under perfusion. Olivier represents 25+ years of hands-on operating experience within the biopharmaceutical industry
