Christoph Herwig, PhD
Senior Scientific Advisor,
Körber Pharma

Christoph Herwig, PhD is a bioprocess engineer from RWTH Aachen, working in the design and commissioning of large chemical facilities. Prior to this, he received his interdisciplinary doctoral degree at EPFL, Switzerland in bioprocess identification. From 2008 to 2023, he was a professor for biochemical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. The research area focused on the development of data science methods for integrated and efficient bioprocess development along PAT and QbD principles for biopharmaceuticals. In 2013, he founded the company Exputec, which is now part of Körber Pharma, pioneering data science software solutions for the biopharma life cycle.

Véronique Chotteau, PhD
Professor, Head,
Cell Technology Group CETEG,
Dept. of Industrial Biotechnology, CBH, KTH,
Director,
VINNOVA Competence Centre for Advanced BioProduction by Continuous Processing

Véronique Chotteau, PhD has 30 years of experience in mammalian cell culture including ≥ 10 years in biopharmaceutical industry at Pharmacia Upjohn Swedish Orphan Biovitrum. She joined KTH in 2008, where she was offered to lead the animal cell cultivation activities. Her group is focusing on cell-based processes for biologics production, high cell density perfusion of CHO and HEK293 cells, mathematical modelling and process analytical technology for the production of glycoproteins, and viral vectors and cells as product. Her group was the first to publish cell densities higher than 200 millions cells/mL in CHO cell perfusion process. She has a bachelor's degree in engineering sciences, master's degrees in electrical engineering and biotechnology (University Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium) and a doctoral degree in automatic control/modelling/biotechnology (University of Louvain, Belgium).

Chris Spivey
Director, Industry Relations and Strategic Partnerships,
BioProcess International

Chris Spivey oversees both BioProcess International events and media to ensure both represent the interests of the larger bioprocessing ecosystem. Chris co-founded the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO) and more recently co-founded the Alliance for mRNA Medicines (AMM). He's co-authored half a dozen scientific papers, in the field of advanced wavefront tansforms and adaptive optics. He also has been the primary author for several technology market research reports, such as metal 3D printing and NRAM computer memory. He served as conference chair for 50-plus sub disciplines, from human genetic variation and microarrays to gene quantification and biotech startup funding and management.

His consulting work includes bulk hetero-junction CdS/CdTe thin film solar cells, spinel LiMn2O4 as lithium ion battery cathode material, passivation of laser diode micro channel coolers, nanomaterial processes for algal biodiesel fuel, and general nanoparticle manufacture from a bottom-up approach. He has also served in leadership positions in media and research companies.
