Adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) are an important vector used to deliver life saving gene therapies to patients. The percentage of empty and full capsids in an AAV sample is a crucial quality measurement needed to determine the purity of a potential therapeutic. Empty capsids lacking the genome cargo are both non-therapeutic and potentially raise the risk of a negative immune response.

Methods of measuring empty and full capsids can be expensive, use a large amount of valuable sample, or result in an imprecise measurement with high error.

This webinar describes a method to determine the percentage of full AAV capsids by measuring capsid titer and genome titer in a single Droplet Digital PCR well using the Vericheck ddPCR Empty-Full Capsid Kit.
