Streamlined AAV Manufacture:
From Plasmid Design to GMP Production
Presenter:

Senior Scientist, Department of Viral Vector Process and Technology Development,
WuXi Advanced Therapies
Bo-Jhih Guan is a Senior Scientist of the Department of Viral Vector Process and Technology Development at WuXi Advanced Therapies, a CTDMO organization. At WuXi Advanced Therapies, he specialized in leading and developing lentivirus (LV) and adeno-associated virus (AAV) upstream processes from adherent and suspension production systems. He is also highly engaged in downstream process development, analytical development, tech transfer and manufacturing for both LV and AAV.
Bo-Jhih Guan is originally from Taiwan and received his PhD in microbiology from University of Tennessee, USA, studying the relevance of viral RNA sequence and structure to virus replication. Over the years, he has been trained as a molecular virologist and has more than 15 years of research experience in the field of molecular and cellular biology. Prior to his current role, he did basic and translational research at Case Western Reserve University, USA, and published more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific papers. His research focus underlines the crosstalk between mammalian cellular stress responses and RNA translational control.
Bo-Jhih Guan’s main career goal is to bring the best quality of research discovery and products to benefit the people in need. With his intensive academic and industrial knowledge and experience, he aims to advance the pharmaceutical and economic impact to the gene and cell therapy for more clinically relevant, cost-effective, and commercial-scalable process development and manufacturing.
