Nuno Fontes is SVP and head of global CMC at WuXi Biologics, reporting to Chris Chen, PhD, CEO. He has 24 years of global biotechnology experience spanning technical operations and CMC leadership across both large pharmaceutical companies and emerging biotechnology firms.
Before joining WuXi Biologics, Fontes served as SVP and global head of biologics development at Bayer Pharmaceuticals. He has also held senior leadership roles at Coherus Biosciences and Boehringer Ingelheim, where he led US-based process development and clinical manufacturing for internal programs and CDMO clients.
Earlier in his career, Nuno spent nine years at Roche/Genentech in roles including group leader and CMC team lead and began his career in purification and analytical development at Biotecnol SA.
Fontes holds a doctoral degree in biochemical engineering, a master's degree in commercialization of science and technology, a master's degree in molecular and cell biology, and a bachelor's degree in chemistry.
